Remembrance Ceremony

Today the whole school came to the Anzac Remembrance ceremony. We had a special guset to come and visit us, Stacey Lock from the defence force. She came and talked about the fort and the death of the Anzac Soldiers who fighted for our country. After her speech we had a minute of silence to remember the soldiers who died, then 2 people from each class came to the front and placed their Anzac wreath on a table.

Inquiry: Who am I?

This term's inquiry is Who am I? We will be learning about ourselves and our peers, as well as our National identity and Digital identities. This week we finished off our 3D stars with comments about ourselves and other classmates.

Basic Facts Karuta

Yesterday we learnt a modified version of a Japanese card game called karuta. We used the game to practise our Addition to ten basic facts. The game involves players recalling their basic facts quickly so they can swipe away cards for points. In the future we will be using it to practise rapid recall of other maths knowledge as well. Check out our blogs for more information on karuta and even instructions on how to play!

Starting the year.

Room 9 started the year off last week by learning about ourselves and each other: our likes & dislikes, family, future goals, places of origin.
